The Journey Ahead

From Year 9 to university

Every step matters. Here is the typical progression for a UAE British curriculum student — from KS3 foundations through to Sixth Form and university applications.

Year 7–8

KS3 Foundations

Students build literacy, numeracy, and scientific reasoning. Wide subject taster menu helps identify interests before specialisation.

Year 9

Transition & Choice

Consolidate KS3 skills, deepen subject mastery, and choose 3–4 GCSE options. MoE subjects (Arabic, Islamic, Social Studies) remain compulsory in UAE schools.

GCSE Year 1

Two-year IGCSE/GCSE courses begin. Coursework, controlled assessments, and the first formal exam modules. Triple or Combined Science decision is finalised.

Year 11

Exams & Beyond

Final GCSE/IGCSE exams in May–June. Results in August determine Sixth Form (A-Level / IB) entry. Many students progress to A-Levels, BTEC, or the IB Diploma.

Year 12–13

Sixth Form

Three or four A-Level subjects, or the IB Diploma. Students target university — UK Russell Group, UAE federal institutions, US, Canada, or Europe.

Two-year GCSE courses, followed by two-year A-Level / IB programmes, give students the depth required for top universities worldwide.
